I am almost finished the Summer phase of the Project CX. Once I am through it, in a couple of weeks, there will be some time off, much relaxing, and probably a minute or two to recap what I've learned.
Since I have been racing this summer, I haven't felt as focused in my workouts. I have fallen back on some pretty basic workouts for during the week, and not getting in the variety or intensity I had originally planned for this time of year. It's been a lot of learning how my body reacts to different types of races, and making sure I was as prepared and rested as possible for all of the races. It's also been a lot of balancing a training plan against a pretty demanding job.
Last Saturday, I finally got in a workout where I felt I had that dedication and focus again. I knew I wanted to do a short & hard effort, but was busy running around and doing "normal life" stuff all day. So busy, I didn't have a chance to get on the bike until 8.30pm. For efficiency's sake, I put the bike on the trainer, and just hammered out a 70min workout. Riding the trainer on a beautiful summer day is mentally hard in a lot of ways (and also bordering on sad), but that reminder of my focus and dedication is worth it.
