Barrie/HH race

Still feeling disappointed about this one!

Felt good during warm up, with the legs feeling good. I was ready to go. Started strong, leading off the line and through the first lap, without feeling like I was too far in the red. Mel B came around me at the beginning of lap 2, but I kept her within a few seconds. Lap 4, I started to pull my socks up, and was closing down the gap. Got excited, took a sandy off-camber 180 turn a bit too hot, and bit it, going down. Took me a minute to get my bike off the stake and to get back on my way, and by then, first place was long gone. I really had the wind knocked out of me, and was passed by 2 other women about half a lap later. I held on for 4th, but am disappointed to have come so close, only to take myself out.

I guess I am realizing how much needs to come together for a win. Good legs and good luck, focus and patience. Keeping the rubber side down really helps!

10% finish: Yup, less than a minute down
Consistent lap times: Pretty good, within about 20", with the exception of a slower lap due to crashing
Other positives: Good lesson in patience, and not taking stupid chances. Good opportunity to dig in mentally - crashing hurt, I have a nasty cut from it, and it was a mental battle to push myself to keep going, and keep going hard.
